Our Lady of Fatima

5 years ago, a brother of mine who travels from one country to another gave me a very unexpected birthday present. No, it was neither a necklace nor a designer watch or bag. It was more than any money can buy. PRICELESS!! He handed me a beautiful 20” statue of Our Lady of Fatima made and painted by artisans in Fatima, Portugal. I held Her quietly in my hands for a while. I didn’t know how to feel and what to say. I was in deep and great awe. How could someone like him think of such a thing. Ahh, i realized it wasn’t him. It was the FATIMA who found Her way to me. From then on, I’ve enjoyed Her sweet and holy appearance. Those glass eyes that give life-like appearance, Her gold crown and blue velvet dress are always lovely to look at. What’s miraculous and breath-taking is She changes into different colors. Check out the photos, though I missed one shade of color.

She is extremely special. I could have not asked for anything else. Her original box is well-preserved in my closet. Everything is just special!

Just Another Day in Paradise!

Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. There are different devotions to our Blessed Mother of Fatima and one of them is the First Saturday Devotion.

The observance of the first Saturday in honor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is intended to make reparation to it for the sins of mankind. This devotion was revealed by the Blessed Virgin to three children, Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia to whom she appeared at Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. On June 13, 1917, Our Lady specifically stated in speaking to Lucia: "Jesus wants to make use of you to make me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.

Our Lady repeated this in the July 13th apparition when, after the vision of Hell that was granted to the three children, she said: "You have seen Hell, where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace." Our Lady asks for reparation. "There are so many souls whom the Justice of God condemns for sins committed against me, that I have come to ask reparation."

"O my Jesus, I offer this for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. (Sacrifice Prayer)

"I promise to help at the hour of death, with the graces needed for salvation, whoever on the First Saturday of five consecutive months shall:

1. Go to Confession (8 days before or after, better before, but with this intention)
2. Receive Communion in a state of grace
3. Say a five-decade rosary
4. Meditate on the 15 mysteries for 15 minutes

"The reason for five 1st Saturdays is the five blasphemies

1. against Her Immaculate Conception ,
2. against Her perpetual virginity,
3. against Her divine maternity of God and mankind,
4. involving instilling in the hearts of children indifference, contempt or hate against this Immaculate Mother
5. against Her sacred Images."

Do you hold your husband responsible?

I know I haven't fully introduced myself. Yes, I am a mother, too. It is such a joy and blessing. My healthy and adorable baby boy was born on the first hour of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dec. 12. He is turning 17 months on Tues. So since Mother's Day is around the corner, I would like to pose a question: WOULD YOU HOLD YOUR HUSBAND RESPONSIBLE TO CELEBRATE MOTHER'S DAY? I want your 2 cents, send them in and let's hear from the Moms!

I wasn't sure if i wanted to answer that question myself already, or should i hear from you, guys, first. Well, it would'nt hurt to go ahead, right. Your two cents will always take its worth.

I am sure my husband is planning on doing something extra special on that day. Though he is not and I would not hold him responsible at all. Why? BECAUSE EVERYDAY IS A MOTHER'S DAY TO ME! We don't need holidays so he could show his affection to me, otherwise I married the wrong man. He supports and appreciates me 365 days a year. We always have fun, quality time! I am thankful to God that our home is filled with peace, love and joy! What more can I ask for but continuous God’s grace upon our family and loved-ones.

Though I can't deny a single wish my heart's been yearning for. I would love nothing more than a ROSARY KIT (parts and video)! I'd rather have my husband spend for a cause to support our apostolate rather than any fleeting material enjoyments. A simple lunch enjoying such home-made gourmet could parallel the effect of giving diamonds or eating at such a fancy restaurant.

It's been proven time and again that the simplest thing makes the greatest gift we could ever give. It is the thoughtful gestures of making someone feel loved, appreciated and special that count the most!
